Patchpaw frowned, looking at the leaf in front of his paws with hardcore focus. It means something, but what? The tom thought, tail tip flicking in frustration. I always understand the signs.. Why now, StarClan? Patchpaw looked up at the pale blue sky, mousedung! No stars in the day, of course! He thought angrily. The apprentice gasped in horror, and raced after the leaf as it took flight, fluttering out of camp. "NO!" Patchpaw screeched in agony, as if he'd lost his best friend in battle, though the tom didn't have a best friend.
Patchpaw skidded to a halt at the camp entrance, tempted to go out. I can do this. It'll only take a few moments to find that leaf again.. The apprentice's claws slid out of their sheathes. The thought that there were probably other leaves in ShadowClan's forest, despite being mostly pines, and that he wouldn't be able to find that exact leaf again didn't cross the crazy cat's mind. He was determined. I know there was a sign in that! I just couldn't find it yet!
Fur fluffed up, Patchpaw cast a quick glance around the camp then bolted out. If I meet a patrol or something, then I'll tell them the truth: that leaf held something very, very important to the Clan! I just know it! They'll believe me. I mean, what if some disaster is coming?! StarClan always knows and they always send me the signs, even though I'm not a medicine cat! I don't need to be a medicine cat to be close to them, though. They speak many words to me. I just know it! The breezes, the way the sun shines, the patterns of snowflakes in leafbare.. StarClan points things out to me in many ways. At that point, Patchpaw was simply rambling in his mind as he ran in the direction that he'd last seen the leaf fly.
A shape, maybe more then one, was made out in Patchpaw's eyes, but he continued forward. Must.. Find... The leaf.. No matter who gets in my way!

Patchpaw gulped in nervousness, haltering to a harsh stop in front of his Clanmate. "Yes, Ravenc-" The tom cut himself off as he saw the leaf at her paws. He licked his lips and let out a kit-like squeal, "you found my leaf!! I'm sure that StarClan will tell me something about it! It has to be important, Ravenclaw! I know it is!" He crouched to pick up the leaf, and looked up, "take your paw off it, please; I don't want it to rip. I mean, what if it shows an upcoming disaster for ShadowClan? We can't have that happen, and if it's ripped up, StarClan won't be able to tell me anything through it!" Patchpaw sat up and blinked at the warrior, "please?" He begged, trying to put on a cutesy act. Please work, please work, please work! The crazy tom thought.
(Short, sorry)

[/i] She asked as she watched him stir up over a simple leaf. Surely if Starclan had a sign, they would send it to the medicine cat or leader. Someone of higher importance than an apprentice. "It's just a leaf, Patchpaw.". [/ul]

Patchpaw's eyes suddenly blazed with fury, his back arched, and his fur fluffed up even more than it had when he made the decision to leave camp without giving notice to his mentor. "You're WRONG! WRONG WRONG WRONG!" The tom screeched angrily at Ravenclaw, tail lashing. His claws slid out of their sheathes. He wouldn't actually attack a Clanmate, but oh was he tempted to. "My head is definitely not in the clouds! My head is right here! See? I'm right in front of you, aren't I? My gaze is what follows the sky, and even then, I only stare at the clouds when they obviously have a sign about them! Otherwise, I'm busy staring at the stars to see the signs that all of you mousebrains miss! You're all so stupid that you don't understand: StarClan has a sign in everything!" Patchpaw swooped down, picked up the leaf, and hissed through it, "you'll be one to talk when you're dead because of the sign in this leaf that will most likely lead to disaster is correct! Then you'll listen to me!"
Patchpaw began to stomp back to camp, oblivious to everything else around him. How dare she!? So many of my Clanmates don't understand! StarClan speak to me! They send me their signs! I know it! It has to be true! He thought, tail still lashing.

Patchpaw's ears flattened and he spat at the she-cat, "I don't care about what he says! You don't know what this leaf says! Only I know because StarClan only tells me! He'll believe me: I know it!" The apprentice passed the warrior and continued his stomp back to camp. What a mousebrain! She thinks she knows everything! And why the emphasis on "apprentice"? Is there something wrong with being an apprentice and being given signs by StarClan? They give signs to medicine cat apprentices, don't they?! He thought angrily, looking again at Ravenclaws and hissing.
She's just another one of those cats that think I'm wrong! What right do they have to say I'm wrong, though? I was right about the fire, even if I've been wrong other times! I'm not always wrong! Besides, my mentor will agree with me! After all, my mentor's the leader! Patchpaw smirked as well, a new thought striking him into happiness, I wonder if StarClan will set a fire or something and really show Ravenclaw that she had no right to mock me. They'll get rid of her so I might not have to. Patchpaw's eyes widened, and a bit of drool formed at his mouth, yes... I'll get rid of her... Maybe.. When she's dead, she'll believe me.

[/i] Ravenclaw spat at him and then leaped out in front of him again. They were nearing the camp now. "You're just an apprentice who wants to feel extra special. Quit acting like Starclan cares about you and just do your job as an apprentice already." She growled. [/ul][/blockquote]

Patchpaw bared his teeth, the temptation to attack Ravenclaw almost taking over. A rush of adrenaline filled the tom, but he forced himself not to attack. No. I must wait until I'm bigger and stronger. I can take her on in a fight then. I'm too small and weak right now. "Let me believe what I will. In fact, no. I know StarClan gives me signs. I'm not trying to feel special: they do send me signs! They do care about me! You, on the other hand... I believe I've had signs that told of a cat that fits your description." Patchpaw's eyes narrowed, his gaze and tone darkened, and he tipped his head down slightly, "your future is not a good one. There will be many hardships ahead of you." The tom padded forward, flicking his tail tip in the she-cat's face. "By the way," Patchpaw began, looking at Ravenclaw, "thanks for the tips. I'll get right to training." He shot her a smirk, I'll focus in strength. When I get strong enough, I'll strike her down.
Frowning, the tom meowed, "either way, you may want to be careful of those around you. I believe I've heard some rumors and such.. Not only that, but the signs tell me much. Much of my own future, as well as others'. I know more about you than you probably think I do. Hmph. You may want to start believing me: I'm smarter than I seem." A pulse of intelligence, of calmness, and of sanity, hit Patchpaw. He was no longer his normal self, although it lasted only a few moments. That should work. I'm crazy most of the time, but when I become the intelligent, calm, sane me, they usually end up believing me.. At least once. He thought, padding back into the camp with a smirk, and a gaze of cruel, scary happiness.

[/i] She flicked her tail and started to head for the camp. "Oh and before you get your petty hopes up, I'd be reporting YOU, not your fake omen." Sneered the she-cat. It didn't take long for them to get into the Shadowclan camp, and once there, she headed straight for Whirlstar's den. Ravenclaw stopped just outside. "Whirlstar, a moment please? I've something to report." The she-cat meowed and then waited for the leader to respond.[/ul][/blockquote]

"Go with you? Yeah, right. I go on my own terms.. In fact, I go on the terms of StarClan." Patchpaw snarled, sliding into camp and heading for the apprentices' den. Who made her my mentor? Certainly not StarClan. He curled up in his nest rebelliously, meh.. I doubt Whirlstar will believe her, anyways. Doubt reached Patchpaw's mind, right? He questioned himself, then shoved the doubt away. Right. There's no way this could go wrong. StarClan prepared me for this moons ago, and they're only sometimes wrong with the signs they send me.. I know this time won't be wrong, though, as it was moons ago.

------------------------------ Whirlstar was returning from a border patrol with Sandclaw and Appleleaf, their casual strides showing that there was nothing out of the ordinary to be reported. Another peaceful day, that is, if you dared to call the tense moment after one battle with Thunderclan and before a huge battle with Windclan and Riverclan peace. Before he had left, he had told his apprentice, Patchpaw, to stay in the camp upon his return, for then they would do some training. His intuition told him that the little apprentice most likely did not stay in camp as he told him to. After dismissing Appleleaf and Sandclaw to go do whatever they wanted for the day, he confirmed his suspicions, finding the apprentice's den, clearing, and basically the entire rest of the camp devoid of any young calico apprentices. Whirlstar sighed. What am I to do about that little troublesome young apprentice? Just as he began considering going out to look for the trouble maker, Ravenclaw and Patchpaw appeared in the camp's entrance. Something to report? Noticing Patchpaw sliding into the camp and heading for the apprentice's den, he could only imagine what trouble Patchpaw had gotten himself into. Oh no... Whirlstar knew his face probably showed that he knew a bit of what had happened, but he simply nodded and replied, "Of course" and slid back into his den, beckoning for Ravenclaw to follow. ------------------------------ Ooc: word count: 232 muse: bleh tags: Ravenclaw; Patchpaw

[/i] She said as she resisted a roll of the eyes. "I tried to knock some sense into him, but instead I got yelled at. I would even say that Patchpaw tried to.." The she-cat paused. "Well, in a sense threaten. Claiming that Starclan told him things about me. To.. watch my back. Of course I believe none of it. Starclan sends messages to their medicine cats and leaders." Ravenclaw flicked her tail as if to dismiss any doubt from her mind. "Very disrespectful.. to say the least anyway." She looked back at the apprentice den. "In all honestly, Whirlstar, I'm concerned about him. He ponders too long about every possible message from Starclan rather than.. listening or training. Pardon me if that isn't my place to say."[/ul] [/blockquote]

------------------------------ Whirlstar blinked, re-readjusting to the shadows of his comfy, homey den, while Ravenclaw made herself comfortable, and listened calmly as Ravenclaw explained her story. He agreed fully with her, almost expecting the sarcastic she-cat to roll her eyes as she mentioned Patchpaw's "signs from Starclan", and wondering if he had noticed her resist the motion when she didn't. He continued to listen, keeping his own feelings of frustration with the crazy apprentice under a calm, mature facade, although he just wished that he could somehow find a way to make Patchpaw understand, and get some common sense, nodding understandingly, his deep brown eyes assuring the warrior that he would see to it that Patchpaw will be dealt with. "I see. I am sorry on behalf of my apprentice for saying such a disrespectful thing to you, Ravenclaw. I will make sure that he apologized." Whirlstar promised. "Thank you for telling me. Now, if you don't mind, would you go summon Patchpaw to my den?" He asked, readjusting his sitting position in preparation to give a good scolding. ------------------------------ Ooc: word count: 177 muse: bleh tags: Ravenclaw; Patchpaw

"No need for that, Whirlstar." Patchpaw meowed in a deep tone. He had left the apprentices' den to hear the conversation, however he was too late and heard only Whirlstar telling Ravenclaw to summon Patchpaw. The apprentice let out an annoyed and impatient sigh, "what do you want?" The calico's tail tip flicked. Patchpaw was almost turning everything around: it was as if he'd suddenly become Patchstar, Ravenclaw had become Ravenpaw, and Whirlstar had become Whirlpaw. They'd all switched places, really, and it was as if the two "apprentices" had bickered, and it was Patchstar's job to fix it. However, Patchstar was very reluctant to do his job.
Patchpaw brought himself back into reality, well, whether I came on my own or not wouldn't matter, now would it? I'm probably going to get in trouble either way because that mousebrain refuses to believe me. Ravenclaw is such a foxheart! I doubt she even told Whirlstar the truth! No.. They all think I'm crazy as it is: he'd probably believe anything she told him about me.. Unless, of course, that thing was "he's cured".. Cured. That's a word that's haunted me since kithood. Do they think I'm diseased or something? No! Just because StarClan sends me signs and not them. I'd think they would worship me, not mock me...
