------------------------------ After dismissing Ravenclaw, Whirlstar cast a scorching stern gaze on the arrogant apprentice. "Ravenclaw's right. You need to learn to show some respect." His long tail lay behind him in the shadows of the back of his den, and the tip was softly pat-patting the floor in irritation. His dark form towered over the young calico tom, for when he intended to, he could make himself as terrifying as he wished. "Patchpaw." He began. "Your behavior as of late has been unacceptable! As an apprentice, and till the day you graduate, you are to show the required respect to all your seniors, am I clear?" Whirlstar hissed sternly. "Further more, I'll not be hearing of any more of your foolish claims to your little "signs from Starclan". The clan has no time for your silly games, and we could do much without you spouting your threats against other warriors. You are not a medicine cat apprentice, Patchpaw." Whirlstar leaned forward until his face was nearly within a mouse length of Patchpaw's. "You must choose only one path. The path of a warrior. That is your destiny. You cannot change that." Whirlstar sat up again, then stood up to pace around the den. "If you want to be a medicine cat so badly, I'm sure Lunastorm wouldn't mind having her first apprentice. But as an apprentice training to be a warrior, signs from Starclan have nothing to do with you!" Whirlstar concluded, swinging his long tail around for emphasis. "Your dishonorable actions today have been unacceptable, so for the next four sunrises, you will help Lunastorm search the elders for ticks, and changing the bedding will be your full job. Understand? Disrespecting a senior warrior and claiming false signs from Starclan cannot go unpunished!" Whirlstar then flicked his tail, signalling that Patchpaw was dismissed, but staying where he was, expecting a come back from the rebellious apprentice. ------------------------------ Ooc: word count: 316 muse: ehh tags: Patchpaw

Patchpaw growled at Ravenclaw in annoyance. I'll show as little or much respect as I want. I won't take this mousedung from any cat; my signs are real!
Upon hearing the lecture from Whirlstar, Patchpaw trembled and broke down, laying on the floor of the den. "THEY'RE REAL!!!" He screeched, moaning afterwards. How dare any cat tell him otherwise? It was the last straw for Patchpaw. "No. I will not be a medicine cat apprentice; no cat in this Clan that thinks I'm lying, or playing "silly games" deserves to be healed or to even live! The path I choose is no longer that of a warrior. Also, I will not be checking the elders for ticks. If no cat's willing to believe me, then I wish you all horrible luck and death. I suppose ShadowClan, though my birth Clan, is not for me. I am now Patchstar, for I am close to StarClan and StarClan only. Goodbye. I don't plan on returning."
The tom picked himself up and left Whirlstar's den, then padded over to Ravenclaw, "I hope you're happy. I also hope that you've bad luck for the rest of your pathetic, worthless life." Patch"star" then slid out of the camp entrance and journeyed out of ShadowClan's territory, sitting right outside the border. I'm not in their territory so they can't challenge me. I may not have had training, but if loners and rogues survive fine, then so can I.

------------------------------ The fur on Whirlstar's neck rose when Patchpaw screamed out that his signs were real. Had the young cat gone mad? Well, it certainly appeared that Patchpaw had lost it. "You're wrong, Patchpaw. Stop being so foolish!!" Whirlstar growled. Just his luck that he had chosen this one to be his own apprentice. But it was still his duty as a mentor to guide Patchpaw down the right path. But Patchpaw kept at it, and before Whirlstar could stop him, the apprentice turned and bolted from the den, and from the camp. "That idiot! He's only going to get himself killed if he goes on like this!" Whirlstar hissed, slipping from his den to find a waiting Ravenclaw. Whirstar nodded. "Yes. We will bring him back. He's too young to be out on his own." Whirlstar flicked his long tail and dashed through the camp entrance. He could smell that he was hard on Patchpaw's trail, but boy, the crazed apprentice was fast. By the time Whirlstar caught up, he found himself at the territory border. "Patchpaw!" He yowled as he overtook the apprentice, and stood, blocking Patchpaw's path, allowing him to take not a step further. "You take no steps further!" He hissed. "Stop being so selfish and give it up. You are an apprentice of Shadowclan. It's your choice if you wish to become a Medicine cat apprentice, however, unless you do, you have no right to give any messages from Starclan! Starclan sends messages and signs to Medicine cats, and Medicine cats relay the messages to the Clan. Know your place, fool. Now come back to the camp." Whirlstar flicked his tail for Patchpaw to follow. "Immediately." He hissed. ------------------------------ Ooc: word count: 283 muse: good tags: Patchpaw, Ravenclaw

Patchpaw snorted, "for as long as you think that about the signs that StarClan give me, I will stay away from ShadowClan. I am no longer an apprentice of ShadowClan; I'm now a rogue by the name of Patch. Now leave me alone. I want nothing to do with a Clan that can't appreciate my words that are from StarClan themselves. You disagree with me, so you're not listening to StarClan. If you want them to be angry with you, then fine. Don't take it out on me, though." He flicked his tail before moving around Whirlstar, taking a few paces forward, and saying one last thing: "by the way... If I'm right, you're not allowed to reject my leaving. If it is my wish to no longer abide by Clan rules, then I am able to live on my own. I'll continue to follow the code, for it is, admittedly, an honorable code. However, I no longer want to live with cats that mock me and call me a liar."
Patch continued forward, smirking slightly. Heh.. Yeah, I'll follow it. For now, that is; they'll pay very dearly for the mocking. That I can promise.

[/i] The she-cat paused and closed her eyes. "I am sorry for mocking you, but I expect an apology in return for being so inconsiderate. So disrespectful toward me." She stood up and then slowly crossed over to Patchpaw. "If you leave Shadowclan, the clan that accepted you for so long despite your attitude, you are a traitor. A traitor not just to us, but to the Shadowclan cats who live in starpelt and walk now as Starclan." Ravenclaw paused to glance at Whirlstar and give a somewhat apologetic dip of the head. It felt wrong to be apologizing to Patchpaw first, as he was in the wrong, but she hoped her small act of compassion would get through. Perhaps it would let him see the light. "I know it's hard to accept, but Starclan only sends messages to medicine cats and their apprentices. If, and I truly mean if, Starclan sent you a message and you were so positive of it, then you should not care what we say and know you'll prove us wrong. But that doesn't mean you should run away and become a traitor of the clan who has accepted you." When she finished, the she-cat took a step back. Although her attitude was changed on the outside, Ravenclaw was more than prepared to take down Patchpaw if he tried anything foolish. No matter where he did so.[/ul][/blockquote]

Whirlstar flinched in horror, but the shame he felt was greater. How did this happen? Since when did Patchpaw's mind become like this? He knew that as Shadowclan's leader, he should have been able to see and prevent something like this from happening. But now it had happened, and for once, Whirlstar was at a loss as to how to calm down his own apprentice. He couldn't just allow the young cat to go off on his own, especially not with a killer on the loose! Patchpaw had only been his apprentice for a few short weeks, and he was nowhere near finishing his training. There was still so much more Whirlstar knew he had to teach Patchpaw before the apprentice could fend for himself. "Fool!" he hissed. "If you no longer wish to abide by Clan rules, you deny Starclan itself! You cannot know for sure that Starclan verifies your words until Starclan tells you so themselves!"
He kept himself from trembling in frustration, but couldn't find the words or the actions that would solve this predicament. But just then, Ravenclaw spoke up, and Whirlstar only gave her a grateful look in return, understanding that punishing the rebellious apprentice was going no where at this rate. Whirlstar calmed his tail and the fur on his scruff laid flat as he sheathed his claws and instead gave Patchpaw a look of pity more than anger. He just hoped that somehow, they could get through to the apprentice's heart without using force....He then awaited Patchpaw's response, in his mind predicting that the apprentice would probably counter by saying that he was positive that Starclan sent him the message, but the different approach was still worth a try.

After all of this, they're being nice now? Heh. Fine, I'll play their game. I'm not as stupid as many, many cats take me. Patchpaw thought, and by the way, I am positive they send these signs to me. You say sorry for mocking me, then you do it again. Psh, whatever. I'll get my revenge someday. The tom's gaze flicked from Ravenclaw to Whirlstar. He had to fight hard to shove the smirk from his face. Patchpaw hung his head and tail down, faking guilt. "I'm sorry." The apprentice mewed with a facade, "you're both right. I'll come back now." Patchpaw padded forward, back into ShadowClan territory. "It won't happen again." Accepted me? How could they say that ShadowClan cats accept me? They never have! Most of them have wanted me gone since the day I was able to talk! I've heard the conversations, their words are harsh... They want me to die in battle, maybe eat deathberries, or just run away and never be seen again. He nodded to the two older cats, however, "alright, shall we go?" Patchpaw's voice was thick with sadness and guilt, fake, of course.
