--BASICS-- good men must die, but death cannot kill their names. -proverb
Name: Hiddenheart
Reason behind name: He has his mother's black coat, so when he moved up against her, to cuddle or sleep, he always seemed to blend in with her. The white diamonds are on his chest and stomach, so if he lays on his stomach, it's just his black back that is visible, so he was hidden.
Gender: tom
Age: 36 moons
Position: warrior
Appearance: Hiddenheart moves with the grace of a natural fighter, though his talent took some time to hone and perfect. Taking after his ebon mother, his short black fur hides strong muscles. He stands proudly, often looking regal and self-sufficient. He is almost completely black, except for two white diamonds on his chest and stomach, which according to his mother, came from his grandfather. Hiddenheart has his father's amber eyes, however, and lean build. The medium sized tom has a small scar on his left shoulder and a black nose. Short Description: Regal amber-eyed black tom with white diamonds on his stomach and chest
--PERSONALITY-- we continue to shape our personality all our life. If we knew ourselves perfectly, we should die. -albert campus
Personality:Wary and quiet, Hiddenheart prefers to stay by himself, staying in the shadows. This complex tom finds it hard to trust others, especially after his sister's betrayal. Polite, he respects other cats when he interacts with them, but often tries to not interact with them. He gets very defensive when asked personal questions and will often end up not answering them, snapping at other cats and trying to subtly change the subject. Sometimes he gets lonely, but does not do anything to remedy that, still staying by himself. Hiddenheart does not let himself get close to other cats, fearing betrayal, and guards his feelings and secrets fiercely. He often remains stoic, not expressing his emotions, trying not to give any potential weapons for others to use against him. Kits are cute, but he does not desire any, nor does he think that he will be able to trust a she-cat enough to have any. Whenever he is the center of attention, the tom tries to divert the spotlight, or at least change the conversation so it's about something other than himself. Depending on the situation, he has a decent amount of patience. When attempting to explain something to a cat that refuses to understand it after multiple explanations, his patience often runs short and he ends up snapping at the cat. However, if he hunts, he can wait forever, patient and still. He would not be the ideal mentor, but if he gets a bright and curious cat as a mentor, he might warm up to the cat and do a fairly decent job. I am curious to see if people actually read this long paragraph. So put Always at the end of the post if you're going to accept this. Stupidity annoys him greatly, for stupid cats often makes mistakes that everyone else ends up paying for. He has very little patience for that, as he considers himself intelligent. The very proud tom fears not living up to a cat's expectations, and often worries about what others will think of him, though he does not show it. Trying to get an answer out of him when he does not want to give it is like talking to a rock. However, he would protect those rare and select few that do earn his trust with his life, much like he would for ShadowClan. He has a fairly dry sense of humor, should anyone get to know him well enough to discover it. Hiddenheart also appreciates sarcasm, if it's well used.
Ambition: Like any warrior, Hiddenheart wants to serve his clan and help it prosper. He does not have any dream of having kits, though he subconsciously wants to trust other cats.

--HISTORY-- experience is simply the name we give our mistakes. -oscar wilde
Secrets:
- the fight with his sister
- he wants to be able to trust again (though he may not realize it)
Family: Generally, he and his family get along very well, excluding his sister, Fawnflight. They talk and he trusts them. Towards Fawnflight, however, he remains distantly polite and guarded, unable to breach the rift between them. Mostly, he tries to avoid her.
History: Hiddenkit Naturally a quiet cat, Hiddenheart was the quiet one of his litter. His two sisters, Fawnkit and Sandkit, generally prefered to play with each other rather than him, and after having them team up against him in play fights, he learned to prefer it that way. So the tom explored the camp and satiated his curiousity while the other two played. As they matured, the siblings grew closer, though Hiddenheart was still slightly the outcast. The two she-cats learned to appreciate his quiet companionship as they gained their apprentice names.
Hiddenpaw Hiddenpaw and Fawnpaw grew particularly close as brother and sister, and often went out on hunting patrols together as much as they could. However, Fawnpaw was very competitive, but the tom hadn't known how competitive she could get. While training one day, the black cat had pinned his sister with hardly any problems, thoroughly embarassing her, for she was proud of her natural fighting skills and had a reputation to uphold. Embarassed, the she-cat retaliated by playing on his fear of displeasing others and spreading the rumor that he had failed as an apprentice and would be kicked out of the clan. Despite not many believing in the rumor, this shattered his trust and scarred him. After ridicule from the few that did believe the rumor, he learned to hide his emotions and built a wall of quiet politeness to protect himself. Though the teasing hurt, it did not hurt as much as his sister's betrayal. He did not let any other cats get close to him. Even though he cut off interaction with the somewhat regretful Fawnpaw, the tom kept his bond with his other sister, who sympathized with him. He found he could trust her, but never had the same closeness with her as he had had with Fawnpaw. He threw himself into apprentice training, and eventually emerged as the quiet, but seemingly self-confident warrior, Hiddenheart, alongside his sisters, newly named Fawnflight and Sandspots.
Hiddenheart When assigned a patrol with Fawnflight shortly after, the she-cat's repeated and alternated apologies and rebukes for keeping a grudge wore his patience thin and he snapped. A short, but furious fight between the two broke out, where he received a cut that formed the small scar on his shoulder. As both were barely hurt since they were both strong fighters, no cat learned about this fight. Both cats kept the secret, after quickly breaking the fight when they realized they were evenly matched and would waste their energy. This formed a rift between Hiddenheart and Fawnflight that could not be repaired, though Fawnflight tried to many times.

"You should be my mentor!"
This statement made the tom stiffen, though not enough that the kit with untrained eyes would notice. He could not be her mentor, he couldn't be anyone's mentor. The tom did not want to be a mentor. The perpetual energy the juvenile cats displayed would tire him out, and that in turn, would make him lose his patience. No, Hiddenheart could not accept an apprentice. Opening his jaws, the tom prepared to correct the energetic kit, planning on thoroughly crushing any dreams of a tutelage under him.
But then "Sorry to trouble you! Bye!" and Featherkit departed, swiftly striding toward the nursery. Thoughtful amber eyes watched her go, something like disappointment hanging in them. Had he unconsciously wanted the annoying thing to like him? Secretly hoping that perhaps he could befriend her? Or perhaps the other way around? No, of course not. All his life, Hiddenheart had been a solitary cat, even as a kit, more alone than surrounded by his clan mates, and the tom preferred it that way. He did not like kits. He did not want any of his own; they were loud, obnoxious and never knew when to leave a cat a lone, as proved by Featherkit. Still, for some reason, most clan cats wanted little beasts of their own. For some odd reason that the tom could not fathom.
Briskly the senior warrior shook his head, blinking away the lingering emotion in his eyes. The momentary openness of his features and the emotion that had showed in his usually closed off eyes vanished, replaced by his usual, wary expression. Hiddenheart would not bother himself any longer with thoughts of this encounter, he would put it from his mind. Comforted by his decision not to brood, the tom settled down again. He shifted slightly, finding a more comfortable position, laying but still somehow appearing dignified. Emotionless amber eyes swept the camp once more and ears flicked as they registered the usual sounds that signified a strong clan. No, Hiddenheart would never leave his clan, despite the squealing kits, complaining apprentices and rambling elders. Satisfied, the SkyClan warrior settled his ink black head upon his paws, closing his eyes, his ebony body merging with the shadows as he finally slipped into his well-deserved slumber.
