Her eyes glowed under the half light, her ears flicked listening to every noise, and her short tail curled around her hind leg. She left her hiding place, Whitestar allowed a single tear down the side of her face, at the loss of her mate. She stared at her reflection in the lake, mirroring her unhappy expression, she smacked the lake with her fluffy paw and stood back. She knew she must be strong for her clan, Riverclan were quiet lately, only meant something big would happen soon, peace would not last forever, her expression turned hard. "Cinderstorm.." she felt the need to talk to the tom, it had been a while since they discussed many things.

Gray paws carried the tom along the bank as he strolled, tail swishing in lazy loops by his paws. Cobalt eyes remained alert despite his relaxed pace, occasionally flitting to look out over the surface of the river. Many moons had passed since he had simply had the time to relax and enjoy life. In that time, little Lynxkit had become Lynxpaw, a very curious apprentice with plenty of potential. At least in his opinion, though it might be slightly biased. Both of them had gotten over the deaths of Owlstep, Pebblekit and Featherkit, leaning on each other for support and help; it had only strengthened the bond between them. At the moment, Cinderstorm did not know where Lynxpaw was, though if he had to guess, a cat would probably find his son following Oakheart, bombarding the brown warrior with questions. The image brought a smile to the deputy's lips.
The river's water lapped at his paws, and the tom raised one and flicked the water off before moving higher up on the shore. Ahead, he saw another feline on the bank, and narrowed his eyes slightly before he recognized her as Whitestar. It was just as well; the two had not had the chance to talk in a while, and now that the stress was lessened by the end of leaf-bare, they could spare the time. Padding up to his leader, Cinderstorm nodded and meowed amicably, "Hello, Whitestar."

Bramblepelt yawned lazily and rolled over, his long slender legs flopping over his brother Tawnypelt's shoulders. In response, Tawnypelt batted his brother's paws off his face playfully. Bramblepelt grunted, then opened his pale golden eyes and gazed around. The distant sound of the river rushing anew with the melting snow of Leaf-Bare marked the beginning of New-Leaf. Bramblepelt rolled off his brother, then nudged Tawnypelt's shoulder. "Hey, Tawnypelt, wake up! New-Leaf has come!" Tawnypelt grumbled, but then lifted his head, blinking open his eyes, the exact same color, shape and size as Bramblepelt's eyes. "Brother, we made it through the cold weather. At laaaaaa~st!" Tawnypelt meowed, stretching his long, limber spine. "That river's making me thirsty. I'm going to go get a drink." Tawnypelt meowed then. "I'll go with you." Bramblepelt replied.
At the river's edge, the two brothers lapped at the cold water, then both looked up at the same time, noticing their leader and deputy. Was something important going on? They hadn't really seen their leader and deputy having conversations in a while. Bramblepelt and Tawnypelt padded over to Whitestar and Cinderstorm together, as identical and close as ever. "Greetings, Whitestar, Cinderstorm. How are you two?" They both meowed in perfect synchronization, dipping their heads.

Whitestars ears pricked at Cinderstorms voice, she turn with a smile and nodded as a greeting. 'It has been long since we spoke last, I want you to get our warriors to patrol more often if possible, and if you could assess how our current apprentices are doing in their training.' she mewed sternly, she was determind to get as many warriors as possible, and to protect their boundaries more incase of danger in this peaceful time. 'I do not trust the other clans during these peaceful moons, they could be planning anything, a war maybe..' she muttered.
She placed her eyes upon the two brothers, 'Ahh, good morning you two. A fine day, is it not? she purred. 'Any news?'

'It has been long since we spoke last, I want you to get our warriors to patrol more often if possible, and if you could assess how our current apprentices are doing in their training.' Cinderstorm nodded at Whitestar, tail flicking lightly. "Yes, Whitestar. That sounds like a good plan; these times have been a little too peaceful." He glanced at the river rushing beside him, full of the melting snow. In its depths, he saw his and Whitestar's reflections as they stood there. A movement in the background caught his attention, and he noticed two brown figures approacing. A small smile flickered across his face and he looked away from the reflection. Turning to the twins, he added politely, "Hello Tawnypelt, Bramblepelt. I'm well, thanks for asking. How are you two?"

The twins shrugged, and replied matter-of-factly. "Ehh, nothin' much. But Starclan, that was one foxdung heap of a snowstorm! The river's sure to be full this New-leaf." The twins then padded gracefully over to the river's edge, and peered over at the flowing water. "And a full river means plenty of fish for Riverclan." They meowed, grinning cheerfully. Almost every day since that snowstorm, Bramblepelt and Tawnypelt spent all their free time napping together, curled up snug in the warm warrior's den, as lazy as a bear, as if they were thinking they could "sleep out the Leaf-bare season." And on the patrols they were ordered to join in on, they only complained the entire time.
