SKIP DOWN FOR SHORT HAND VERSION
The Cats of Purity. They are a group of cats with pure white pelts, and strange beliefs. They believe in a Lion god. He is pure white, like snow, which is where he gained his name. Falling Snow, for when he shakes his pelt snow falls from her great mane onto the earth. He resides in the White Hills.
The White Hills are just that, White Hills. Covered in snow. All the ancestors of the Cats of Purity reside here.
The opposite of the White Hills are the Tainted Plains. The Cats of Purity believe all cats of tainted souls will go here in death, and their god Falling Snow wants them to send all of the Tainted cats, known as just Tainted, here. So that earth will one day be as pure as the White Plains so that they may always live in purity. And depending on the cat, some believed Purified go to the Tainted Plains, while others believe they go to the White Hills, since they lived as Pure cats.
In order for cats to be properly sent to their places in the afterlife though, these cats believe they must send all their dead to the Gate Keeper. The Keeper is a great white boa constrictor, who lives in a cave on the edge of their territory. In this cave, their are supposedly two 'Gates,' one that leads to each world. The Keeper guards these 'Gates,' so any cat that comes near is taken. No cat has ever seen the gates and lived, because the Keeper guards them. (No their aren't really gates. The snake actually eats the cats but they don't really know that.... in case you didn't guess haha)
The cats are pure white, always white. Their rank is decided by their eye color. The blue eyed cats are high up, and the leaders are usually blue eyed. Green eyed cats are very rare, and right below the blue eyes. Healers are usually green eyed. Topaz/Yellow eyed cats are next. They make up the majority of cats. Amber/Orange eyed cats are at the bottom of the Pure cats, and aren't trusted very well because they are supposed to be easy to taint.
Below even that, are the Purified. The Purified cats are Tainted cats who have revoked their Taint and been 'converted' to the same belief as the other Cats of Purity. They are allowed to live, and make up much of the fighting force, though they are kept separate from the other Cats of Purity. These cats are not allowed to do any major missions without being supervised by a Pure cat. They can do as they please mostly, and aren't forced to stay with them, but when sent out to fight against tainted they have Pure ones to lead them.
Pure and Purified are forbidden to mate, and if they are caught both are sent to the Keeper for judgement, along with any resulting kits.
The leaders are decided at birth though when the previous leader receives a dream from Falling Snow, telling the him/her about the newborn. Once it becomes of age it is made into an apprentice of sorts, called the Chosen. The leader is actually called the Pure One, and usually has blue eyes. Normal apprentices are called Learners. Kits are called Innocent, their mothers are called Life Bringers, and the elders are known as Aged. Normal warriors are called Purifiers.
As you now know, blue eyed cats are believed to be especially holy. But since all of their pelts are pure white, the chances are pretty good that some deaf ones with arise. Many don't have great hearing, but they aren't all deaf. The kits who are born deaf are considered too holy for the earth, at which point they will be sent to the Keeper to be sent to the White Hills.
Nobody knows when this group formed, but it moved near the forest and settled down when it found out the cave where it could meet Falling Snow, known as the Cave of Purity. The Cave of Purity is where the Pure One sleeps, essentially a leader den. On the night of the Full Moon when the moon is high the moonlight shines down on where the Pure One sleeps, and he shares dreams with Falling Snow.
The Cats of Purity have been watching the Clans for some time now, waiting for their own numbers to grow stronger. As they grow stronger, they have begun to pick the Clan cats away in small numbers. Groups of one, or two suddenly disappear, leaving behind only bits of fur and signs of a struggle. They have begun to pick up on the fact that white hair is commonly found at the scenes, and that no body is left. At first they believed cats were taking off- becoming kittypets, or just running away- and still they aren't quite sure what is happening.
Now, as the Cats of Purity grow stronger, what will the Clans do? Who knows how much longer they have... what should they do.... on these last starry nights?
((If you see the word Untainted, pretend it says Purified. LOL.))
Anyway. Shortened Version:
SEASONS: Fall/Winter; Time of Falling Snow Spring/Summer; Time of Burning Rays(? IDEAS FOR BETTER ONE?)
The Cats of Purity believe in a white lion as their God. Their ancestors go to the White Hills with their god, Falling Snow, the white lion. Pure cats are Pure White. Tainted cats are any cat that IS NOT Pure White.
Cats within the Cats of Purity that are NOT Pure White are known as Purified cats. These are cats that believe as the Pure cats do, but are not pure white. They are used as the bulk of their army in fights, but are surpervised by Pure cats.
Gate Keeper is where all dead cats go. Deaf cats with white eyes are sent here to be sent to the White Hills by the Gate Keeper, which is a pure white boa snake.
RANKS:
PURE ONE - Normally Blue Eyed cat, leader CHOSEN ONE - Normally Blue eyed cat that is a Pure One in training, so to speak. Chosen at birth when sign is sent from Falling Snow. Serves as a Deputy of sorts once old enough. HEALER - Normally green eyed cat, medicine cat HEALING LEARNER - Healer Apprentice
PURIFIERS:
BLUE EYED CATS - Purest of them. Cannot be deaf, deaf kits are given to the Keeper. GREEN EYED CATS - Rare, normally ends up being Healer, but not always YELLOW EYED CATS - Common. Most of the cats have yellow eyes. ORANGE EYED CATS - Lowest level of Pure cats. Considered 'easy to taint' LEARNERS -Apprentices INNOCENT - Kits LIFE BRINGERS - Queens AGED - Elders
PURIFED CATS - Are grouped together, and have a separate camp. These are cats that believe the same way, but are NOT Pure, therefor NOT white pelted cats. Lowest rank possible.
Any pure white cat that joins is automatically considered pure, but pure white cats who do not believe are considered Tainted. Many times when Pure cats find pure white cats in the Clans, they pity them for growing up with Taint, and try to 'rescue' them
THE CATS OF PURITY BELIEVE THEY ARE IN THE RIGHT. BY NO MEANS ARE THEY ALL EVIL. So don't feel pressured like that.
MAP OF COP TERRITORY
Basically, they own all the meadow, river, and forest on this map that's not twoleg territory and not Clan territory. The Abandoned shrine where the CoP camp is, is at the top of a cliff. Infact, most of the CoP's forest territory is on uneven terrain, with cliffs and ditches everywhere, while the meadow is between these high forest ridges. From the edge of the cliff that the CoP camp is located, you can see all the meadow, the big red bridge, the White Lion statue, the cave where the White snake guards the entrance to that place where the Healers speak to their Lion god, and the twoleg nests in the horizen, with the visible forests beyond, marking the Clan territories. Most cats would go by the Thunderpath to get to the Clan territories.
The Shallow River is mostly only a foot deep, and at its deepest, two feet, around the middle. The Healers can find most of the herbs near the Shallow River, in the Meadow, and in the Forest.
