Near the edge of the forest, there was a little white house, with a little fence surrounding the little property behind it. After a few moments of silence, the glass door slid open, and a small gray she-cat padded outside, then mewed in surprise at how cold it was. "Don't stay out there too long or you'll freeze, alright, Cutie?" A tall, twoleg female with long black hair and steel encased glass pieces in front of her eyes called out to the gray she-cat before she shut the glass door again. Cutie turned and flattened her ears and retorted. "I told you to call me Mao!" but her dear housefolk had already left.
She could never really understand what the girl was ever saying, but in reality, she really loved that girl. They were like sisters. That girl always slept in Cutie's giant bed with her, and she gave her food. She was the nicest person Cutie ever knew. She was also the one who understood Cutie the most.
Cutie padded to the edge of her tiny territory and peered through the small metal fence out to the other side, where the huge, dark forest loomed over all. Just the sight of it, and the stories of many wild, scary beasts that lurked there, made her fur stand on end, and her pupils widen to full circles. Deciding that wasting time out here would just make her paws feel colder, she went a head and did what she came out to do, making her dirt near the corner of her territory, then returning to the doorstep. Standing up on her back paws, she began pounding the glass door, and yowling. "Open the door! I want to come back in! Hey! I said open the door!" From outside peering in, she saw no activity. Maybe the stupid house-folk were asleep. Flicking her tail in frustration, she turned and growled. "Stupid insubordinate house-folk. They just don't understand anything." It was hard raising people, because they are very slow to learn, and hard to teach. But out of all of the four people living in her house, the girl was the most intelligent of them all.

{OOC: Hello! I read Mao’s biography. Would you like my character, Lotus to influence Mao’s decision in adventuring into the world of clan cats?}
Jaws cracked widely open into a yawn to reveal serrated teeth and a red tongue, glistening with moisture. The crisp air chilled her tongue as it circulated through her warm, gaped mouth. A brown body walked slowly through the streets of the Twoleg Place and lightly quivered from the coldness. The clicking of her long claws echoed throughout the silence as their tips hit the hard floor. Movements of her turning head allowed the slanted, copper eyes to scan the area in all directions and it quickly recognised the familiar surroundings.
It has been several moons since she had revisited this part of the twoleg infested area. In the moons she had been away from the wild territories of the clans, she travelled to and lingered in the south where it was crowded with twoleg nests. Those high structures of the twoleg places offered shelter from blustering winds, icy rain and snow of the harsh Leafbare and Lotus would laze in the heat of the glowing lights that poured out onto the streets. Now that the warmer Newleaf has arrived she makes her return to the north where the clan cats dwell. And the mastermind games will begin.
The grey concrete disappeared beneath her small paws as they sank into spongy soil. A pair of copper eyes gleamed as she tilted her head upwards to meet the lush wilderness and heavily inhaled the wild scents of the forest. There was a tall stump with a tangle of curling roots near the grassy floor. The three-legged cat softly padded to the tree stump and as she approached closer, the texture of the dark brown-green surface appeared rough with lines cracked in a circular pattern. She lowered her burning copper eyes to admire the beauty of the ancient tree. Her long legs climbed over the twisting roots, the developed muscles in her right haunch bunched as it lifted her mauled foot to avoid being caught in the tangling obstacles. She pulled her weight on top of the stump and seated herself in an upright position and facing the darkness of the big trees.
On her high seat, her ears pricked as they detected a sliding noise of a door, followed by a surprised mew and the complex language of a twoleg. Her head turned slightly to one side and she noticed the little, fenced white house. Lotus thought for a moment as she locked her gaze on the small property with sly eyes, glimmering in the light. Most kittypets know nothing... but they are always fun. She bounced of the ancient trunk and dashed over to the metal barrier, remaining a distance away. Looking through the gaps in the fence from her proximity, she spotted a grey she-cat with white paws. Her alert ears pointed forward to the yowling noises she made. Nimble feet carried her soundlessly as she began pacing along the fence of the twoleg nest and encroaching the kittypet’s territory. After hearing a growl from the she-cat on the other side, Lotus with her supporting tail and front claws gripping between the gaps of the fence, gave a powerful spring from the muscles in her hind leg and landed along the top of the fence. Her body wavered subtly but she steadied her balance with her long tail. She stretched her brown body so that she stood in a tall and mysterious stance with her chin lifted high. She rested her sharp and narrow copper gaze down on the smaller cat with an expressionless and unreadable face. The rogue, shrouded with an ominous feeling, watched like a hawk without and through the still silence made no utterance.

Flicking her tail irritably, Mao padded across the yard, and leaped up onto the fence post. At least the wood wasn't as miserably frigid as the ground was. She tucked her paws in under her fur and wrapped her short tail around her, then stared out into the forest, while occasionally glancing back at the twoleg house and door to check for any passing twolegs. Licking her fur only made her feel colder, and it seemed like even though spring had "arrived", the warmth of spring was late. Her green eyelids began to fall, and eventually, she closed her eyes to try to snooze away the cold. Just as she began to involuntarily consider honestly dozing off, a gust of frigid wind buffeted her fur, and in surprise, she hopped down off the fence just in case the wind tried to knock her off the other side.
She trotted over to the house and began pawing at the glass door vigorously. "Let me in! It's cold and windy out here!" Her tail whipped around in irritation. Probably staring at that magical flat colorful loud thing again. She grumbled to herself. And she was correct, for inside her house, her twolegs were watching a movie. But just as she turned around, a brown cat leaped up onto her fence post, and was gazing down at her with ominous copper eyes. Mao's fur fluffed up and she froze in her paw steps. Ears flattened against her neck, and she arched her back, and stared in terror back at the cat, whom she noticed had only three legs. Could it be? One of the famous wild savage cats that live in the forest!? she wondered. She was a proud feline, but now she just wanted to scream at her twolegs to come and save her. But they were watching the magical flat colorful loud thing, and that always took hours! She had no choice but to be brave. She had to protect her twolegs, and her home!
Mao's wide eyes shifted to slits, and she stared back at the other cat. When she opened her mouth, the only sound she could make was a low, shaky whine. "...Who are you?" She somehow managed to growl.

The sharp gaze pierced the smaller cat who immediately sized up with fluffed fur. Even though the house pet reacted towards her presence with terror, the brown cat remained eerily still like a statue. Light breezes brushed her short fur backwards and then as if a statue was coming to life, her legs took a few elegant strides along the top of the narrow fence. It was a slow and silent walk; in her eyes there was a subtle flicker of amusement and they were still fixed on the grey cat.
This is as expected of kittypet behaviour. Then she heard the kittypet muster a growl and her ears perked with interest. You want to know my name? A slight mischievous expression danced across her face and she kicked off the fence. Her muscles rippled as she jumped and delicately landed first, on her front paws then her hind leg touched the ground. With her narrow eyes still focused on the house cat, she approached with slow pawsteps.
She returned a reply but the kittypet’s question was completely ignored. “Oh? Am I that unpleasant?” Her playful tone wasn’t seeking an answer. Lotus inched closer to the she-cat.
“It would be quite rude of you if you actually thought that... Ah— but I’d be rude not to introduce myself. Well, I’m— ...” She was about to reveal her name, “...not telling... because you have to play the guessing game with me...”
Earlier, she had picked up that the house cat’s name was Mao and that she did not seem to be liked to be called ‘Cutie’. To play with the minds of cats was entertainment to Lotus; they were her toys and when they break, it disappoints her. Well, that would be her fault but this is what she does as she is trapped in her bored world.
And in a teasing voice which carried a sense of foreboding, she added slowly, “...Cutie...”

Even as the brown she-cat remained eerily still, like a statue that had been built upon her fence post, Mao remained on edge, the stranger's scent all too real, and like as if the cat had been a statue, come to life that very moment, a light breeze brushed the brown cat's fur back as she walked elegantly along the top of the fence in a few strides, slowly and silently. Mao saw a flicker of amusement in the stranger she-cat's copper eyes, and she felt a bit insulted, but couldn't show it through her stiff fearful posture.
Mao arched her back higher, and hissed defensively in reaction to the stranger she-cat jumped down from the fence. "Hey! I never said you could come in!" Now Mao's posture shifted slightly less from fearful to dominant. This was her territory, and this stranger had just stepped in it. Inside, she was still very terrified, but she knew that, as the proud owner of this den, territory, and the house folk that lived in her house, she had to protect it from all enemies, even though she would rather run for her life. She lashed her tail behind her, and hissed as ferociously as she could. "Stay away!"
The stranger cat came closer still, and answered in a playful tone that annoyed Mao even more. If only she had the guts to show it. Instead, she only narrowed her eyes with suspicion. "I'm not going to play your silly games!" she growled bitterly. But when the stranger cat uttered the stupid name that the house-folk called her, she flinched angrily. "T-that's not my name!" she yowled in a high pitched tone.
